The first 15-30 minutes of class are devoted to stretching and warming up. This generally involves a full-body warm-up and stretches that are similar to yoga. This improves flexibility, minimizes risk of injury, and prepares students' bodies for the rigorous training to follow. The next hour of the class is used to practice the techniques of Capoeira (kicks, sweeps, acrobatic movements). This is accomplished by various kicking, conditioning, and paired drills. These methods help students develop reflexes and athletic ability for self-defense. The remaining class time is reserved for the roda. Students have the opportunity to utilize the techniques they have learned in a more realistic setting, while remaining in a safe and controlled environment. For more information, contact or .
